THE MAMA PARSI GIRLS’ SECONDARY SCHOOL

RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Admission (Very Important):

Parents/Guardians are requested to note that the pupil’s name and date of birth once written in the Admission Form will not be changed or altered under any circumstances. No affidavit will be accepted. Therefore correct names with correct spellings and correct date of birth must be submitted at Admission Time.

2. School Uniform:

White dress, House Tie and Badge, white socks, black shoes, white P.T. shoes and black ribbon or black hairpin or black hair-band only. Dark blue school cardigan for winter wear. The school shoes are available from any shop.

No child is allowed to wear any jewellery in the school except earrings as per school rules. Applying of nail polish, mehndi and kajal is strictly prohibited.

Children must come to school tidily dressed. They will be sent home if found dirty the first thing in the morning/afternoon.

3. School Timing: Morning Shift Afternoon Shift

Monday to Thursday 07.45 a.m. to 01.15 p.m. 12.45 p.m. to 05.30 p.m.

Friday 07.45 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. 12.30 p.m. to 05.00 p.m.

All the gates will be closed at 7.55 a.m./12.55 p.m. sharp. Any pupil coming even one minute late will receive three minus marks from her monthly report. No excuse of any sort will be valid for this rule. If the pupil is late the fourth time, she will have to return home.

No relatives or servants will be allowed to come in between study hours bringing the pupils’ forgotten breakfasts and other articles of use, as this causes a lot of disturbance. The chowkidar at the gate will also be told not to carry any such articles to any class, so please do not leave anything with him.

If a problem arises, the parent must go straight to the Principal and not contact any teacher without her permission. Any discussion regarding the academic aspect of the pupil will be done in the Principal’s office with the teachers concerned between 8.30 a.m. and 10.00 a.m./2 p.m. and 3.30 p.m. after making an appointment with the Principal.

At 1.15 p.m./5.30 p.m. when the school gets over, all parents are requested to wait outside at the gates. The servants must be told that they must wait at the gates only. Under no circumstances should the parents/servants rush in with the bell and gather in the corridors to collect their children. Your children must find you at the gates. Please also note that the front parlour is out of bounds for the children, so do not expect them to come to you through it.

The Management of the School will not be responsible for the safety of the children if they are not collected by 2.00 p.m. the latest (Morning Shift) and 6.00 p.m. the latest (Afternoon Shift). Parents/Guardians are requested to note that if their children remain on the School premises after the aforesaid time, they shall be doing so at their own risk. The School Management is also not responsible for any untoward incidents or mishaps occurring before or after school hours.

4. Payment of Fees :

Monthly fees must be paid before the 10th of the month, failing which twenty-five marks shall be deducted from the child’s respective monthly report.

Fees are payable by Crossed Cheque or Pay Order in favour of The Mama Parsi Girls’ Secondary School. NO CASH will be accepted. If a fee cheque is returned unpaid to us by your bankers, it will be treated as a default. Marks of the respective pupil will be deducted in the test or examination during the same month in which the fees are payable. If for any reason deduction of marks is not effected during the same month, the same shall be deducted the following month.

If a Parent/Guardian has defaulted as above, all future fee payments will be payable by BANK PAY ORDER ONLY.

If for any reason, fees are not paid for one calendar month, the pupil’s name shall be automatically struck off the rolls from the next month. Fees of any kind once deposited shall under no circumstances be refunded.

5. House Tests :

House Tests in all subjects, rotationally will be held every month.

6. Examinations :

Two Examinations will be held during the academic year. Terminal or Half Yearly in December and Annual or Final in May. Any pupil remaining absent during the Tests / Examinations will be marked ABSENT. NO RE-EXAMINATION UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES will be arranged for such pupils either before or at a later date.

It is mandatory for pupils of Classes IX – XI to appear for the Preliminary Examination, failing which they shall not be allowed to appear for the Final Board/Overseas Examination. This rule must be strictly obeyed.

7. Untimely/Unscheduled Closures :

In case of untimely/unscheduled closure of Schools, declared by the Government or Directorate of School Education, at the time of the Examinations or House Tests, do the following:

a. Prepare for the rest of the Papers as per schedule.

b. Each class will then have the missed Paper/Papers, again according to schedule, on/from the very next working day after all the rest of the papers are over.

8. Annual Promotion :

Promotion shall be made on the results of the Annual Examination and yearly aggregate.

Pupils failing in any two subjects will be deemed failures. However General Knowledge, Gujrati and Art shall not be considered for this purpose.

Positions will be allotted according to the number of subjects cleared and not according to the grand total. Any subject

in which the pupil remains absent will be counted as a failing subject.

9. Parents – Teachers Meeting :

There shall be two meetings in the year – one before the Terminal Examination and one before the Annual Examination, to discuss the academic progress of the children.

10. Leave of Absence :

All applications for leave of absence must be addressed to the Principal.

Leave of absence will be given for serious reasons only. If a pupil is absent through illness or for any other reason, a note from the parents testifying to the fact must be given. The name of the child along with the Class and Section and the Shift must be mentioned correctly and clearly. A Medical Certificate must also accompany the application in case of illness.

Pupils suffering from a contagious or infectious disease will naturally not be permitted to attend the School. Until fitness is certified by the School Doctor.

Applications requesting long leave of absence especially for purposes of travel must reach the Principal at least fifteen days prior to the date of departure. If this rule is not strictly followed, and the child takes leave without the written permission from the Principal, her name shall be struck off the rolls.

Any pupil absent from the school for one calendar month without a note of excuse will be struck off the rolls.

No child will be allowed to leave the School premises before closing time for any purpose. Parents are kindly requested not to come to the Principal with any sort of excuse to take the child home earlier than the normal closing time. However, for extremely serious reasons, this rule may be relaxed.

11. Absence Without Leave and Non payment of fees:

Any pupil absent from the school for one calendar month without a note of excuse will be struck off the rolls.

If for any reasons, fees are not paid for one calendar moth, the pupil’s name shall be automatically struck off the rolls from the next month.

11-A Withdrawal and Issuance of Leaving Certificate:

The intended withdrawal of a pupil should be notified in writing by the parents at least one week before the end of the term.

If a request for a leaving certificate is made during the first term, i.e. between the months of August to December, it will be issued on the condition that all outstanding fees for the remainder of the term, until December, is paid in full.

Similarly, if a request for a leaving certificate is made during the second term, i.e. between the months of January to July, it will be issued on the condition that all outstanding fees for the remainder of the term, until July, is paid in full.

No leaving certificate will be granted till all outstanding fees and school dues are paid in full.

12. Indemnity:

The parents/guardians agree to hold the School, its trustees, members of its Managing Committee, the Principal and all teachers and support staff harmless and indemnified against any loss, damage and / or injury howsoever arising from or in connection with their child’s conduct outside School hours or otherwise than on School premises or as a consequence of any disciplinary action taken by the School.

Any kind of damage to the school property and equipment will also have to be made good by the child concerned.

13. Discipline:

The School administration does not assume any responsibility for a pupil’s conduct and therefore, does not accept any liability arising as a consequence of or in connection with a pupil’s conduct whether outside School premises or before or after School hours.

It is the responsibility of the pupil’s parents/guardians to ensure avoidance of all unacceptable and improper conduct which may bring the School into disrepute. In the event of their failure to do so, the School reserves the right to adopt appropriate disciplinary measures, including detention, suspension and/or expulsion of the pupil, in order to maintain School decorum.
